Associate Professiorial Fellow

David F Dennison PhD., CBiol., MRSB., FRES. is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education. He was the Headmaster of St Margaret's Church of England Academy, Liverpool, up until summer 2013.  He began his teaching career at Formby High then moved on to become the head of biology/science at Hutton Grammar School Preston. Between 1989 and 1995 he served as Headmaster of Archbishop Temple Preston before moving to Liverpool.  In Easter 2014 he became the Interim Principal of Hope Academy and on the appointment of a new principal he continued as Associate Principal until summer 2015.  In the following academic year he served as the Associate Principal of Sandymoor School Cheshire.

David has contributed to educational thinking and policy - locally, regionally and nationally.  He has extensive experience in school improvement and has helped many schools recover from difficulties. Throughout his career he has encouraged young people to go on to study at university and from 2006 to 2009 was the Director of Widening Participation here at Liverpool Hope University. In the Faculty of Education he now supports the development of Masters degrees for teachers and supervises research projects at masters level. He also plays an important role in encouraging partnerships between schools and the university that ultimately lead to increased participation at first and second degree level.

David is a member of the Liverpool Diocesan Board of Education and also serves on the HE sub-committee. He is a Board Member of Sandymoor School and a Governor at Aughton Christ Church C of E Primary School.  He is also a Trustee of Liverpool Diocesan Schools Trust (LDST) which is a developing multi-academy trust (MAT).
